Health blog!

Welcome students to our class blog. We will be using this space for class discussions to examine, evaluate, and share knowledge. Discussions provide opportunities for students to think critically on the topics we will be learning about in Health class. Concepts, assignments, and readings will be used as the basis for our discussions to create a positive learning community in which students are willing to share their ideas and to accept constructive criticism from their peers.

Fernanda Murray Concept check 27.5

Concept Check 27.5
1. Explain how muscles work in pairs in moving limbs.
As one muscle contracts the opposite one relaxes

2. Identify the structures that make up a skeletal muscle.
two types of muscle fibers: actin (the thin one) and myosin( thick one)

3. Identify at least three organ systems involved in a handshake. Describe what each system contributes to the handshake.
Nerves: eyes sense the presence of someone and thins about the handshake
Muscle: the muscles contract ( back, shoulder, upper arm, forearm, and wrist)
Bone: 27 bones are manipulated for a good hand shake

4. Explain how actin and myosin interact as a muscle cell contracts.
When actin contracts myosin doesnt move and then actin relaxes and myosin contracts

  1. For the first question maybe you could include that every muscle has and opposing one. I think it was good how you used the nerves and the bones as organs that help us make a handshake and how the eyes play an important part.

  2. As karo mentioned it is incomplete you should have said at the first question that muscles can only pull not push. The second question would have been better to describe what all of the skeletal muscles are such as myofibrils: bundles of smaller units. But overall you did an exelent job!

  3. your answers are correct but maybe you could be more specific while putting the different structures of the bones.

  4. It is interesting the way your answer for question 2, I dont think anyone else thought about bones and nerves, and i think that was really creative, you could improve by trying to include more information for each question and make them more accurate =)

  5. Try to give more information about the theme. In question one you should have mentioned that one muscles relaxes while the other contracts because muscels can only pull and not push. There is some important things you should put in each question to make it more self explainable. For example in question three it is difficult to understand what your trying to say. You can imporove by developing better your sentences. Good work!

  6. for your answer in number 1 you should of included that they interact to put the bone back in the original position, in number 2 you didn't put the words that were asked for, and in number 4 you never talked about sarcomere or ATP which were key terms for the interaction
