Health blog!

Welcome students to our class blog. We will be using this space for class discussions to examine, evaluate, and share knowledge. Discussions provide opportunities for students to think critically on the topics we will be learning about in Health class. Concepts, assignments, and readings will be used as the basis for our discussions to create a positive learning community in which students are willing to share their ideas and to accept constructive criticism from their peers.

Activity 27.3 Response NICOLE DE FRANCISCO

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is very important for our body to be able to function properly, because it is what stabilize it by regulating the temperature. Only when ones body is in "steady state" the organs and tissues of the body are able to function properly.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
1) When your body is exposed to a high temperature you sweat, this causes evaporate cooling that regulates your temperature and does not allow your body to overheat.
2)When you are exposed to a cold environment and your body shivers, this muscular contraction release heat and help keep an internal warm body temperature.
3) The integumentary system provides a physical barrier for your body against the external environment.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
As explained in the previous question, when you are exposed to a cold temperature, you unvolunatrily start shivering. This contraction of the skeletal muscles release heat that warms your body internally.

1. Explain why homeostasis is important for your body's functioning
homeostasis is the internal stability of our body it is very important because our tissues can only survive in a narrow range of temperature, and homeostasis keeps the temperature around 37ºc so we can survive.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body
  • the layered construction of our skin helps insulate the body on cold days.
  • when the external temperature is too hot your skin responds to this stimuli by sweating trought its pores to lower the internal temperature.
  • the skin phisically separates your body from the external envyronment making homeostasis easier.
3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day
on a cold day you shiver so you maintain your temperature, when you shiver your skeletal muscles rapidly contract realising heat so your internal temperature doesn't change.
1. Why is homeostasis important to your bodies functing?

It is the function of maintaining your body temperature regulated. Disorders can be prevented if it wouldn't be for homeostasis.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps mantain homeostasis in your body?
  1. It acts as a physical barrier against dirt and microorganisms entering the body.
  2. Its skin layers helps protect the internal organs, that way keeping them safe.
  3. Reacts to stimuli when there is a change in body temperature.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside in a cold day?

Shivering is one of the reactions that the body makes in a cold day. The muscles contract and releases heat in the body.

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is what maintains the stability of the body, this stability is needed because tissues can survive only under certain conditions, these conditions are known as set points, and homeostasis produces changes in your body to maintain these set points as the outside environment changes. Homeostasis helps maintain body equilibrium.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
Skin provides a barer between dirt and microorganisms to keep them from entering the body, another example is that skin reacts to stimuli when there is a temperature change, an example of this is sweating. Integumentary system is also important in maintaining homeostasis hair provides protection against UV rays and it also provides insulation against temperature, eyebrows and eyelashes protect eyes. The last example is that skin acts like a cushion to protect internal organs from injury.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
One example of this is shivering which is caused by the rapid contraction of skeletal muscles the muscles release heat that helps maintain the body temperature.

Reading Response 27.3 Pedro Leon

1. Why is homeostasis important to your bodies functing?

Because this maintains our body in a certain and adecuated temperature. This stabilization is essential in our life because it keeps us from getting disorders.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps mantain homeostasis in your body?
  1. It acts as a physical barrier against dirt and microorganisms entering the body.
  2. Its skin layers help insulate the body on cold ways.
  3. Skin responds to stimuli such as slight changes in body temperature.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside in a cold day?

By goosebumps, heat is maintained in the goosebumps of your skin.

Concept check 27.3 Anthony Furlin

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.

Homeostasis helps regulate your body temperature. with out homeostasis the tissue will not survive, because it can only live in a stable internal enviroment. The regular body temperatureis 37 degrees celcius

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
  1. Provides a barrier against microorgganism and dirt freom entering the body.
  2. Helps to insulate the body and provides a cushion for internal organs from injury.
  3. Also helps mantain homeostasis by reeacting to body changes in temperature.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.

The body mantains its heat during a cold day by shivering. this causes the skeletal muuscles to contract releasing heat into body.

chapter 27.3

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to our body's functioning.
Homeostasis is important to our body's functioning because it is what makes us have internal and external stability of our body. Tissues can only survive within a range of conditions and homeostasis is what helps the tissues stay on that conditions. Homeostasis makes our body have a certain temperature all the time.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps mantain homeostasis in your body.
One example of a way that skin helps mantain homeostasis in our body is the way skin creates a physical barrier to prevent dirt and microorganism to enter the body. An other example is how skin protects our body from the cold. Finally, a last example is when skin responds to body temperature and water content.
3. Explain one way that your body mantains a constant temperature while outside in a cold day.
In a cold day, our body mantains a constant temperature by shivering. Shivering is produced by the contraction of skeletal muscles. This contractions release heat that helps our body to mantain the constant temperature in a cold day.
