Health blog!

Welcome students to our class blog. We will be using this space for class discussions to examine, evaluate, and share knowledge. Discussions provide opportunities for students to think critically on the topics we will be learning about in Health class. Concepts, assignments, and readings will be used as the basis for our discussions to create a positive learning community in which students are willing to share their ideas and to accept constructive criticism from their peers.

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.

Homeostasis controls and maintains an adecuate temperature for your body. It is important since it regulates your body stability. It is essential because if we dont have a regulated internal stability then we develop disorders.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.

It maintains homostasis by acting as a barrier that protects your body from microorganisms or factors that affect it. It cushions internal organs making them more inmune to injuries. It responds to stimuli in hot and cold climates. In hot climates muscles relax so they can realese heat. In cold climates muscles contract to maintain heat.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.

Neurons send signal to our molecules that stimulate them and they make our muscles shiver. When we shiver our muscles are producing faster contractions so we can maintain and make heat.

Concept Check 27.3 Camila Ruales

Assignment one: Read section 27.3 of the online Biology book. Answer the following questions and provide constructive feedback to at least three other learners.

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.

Homeostasis is important to our body's functioning because it helps stabilize it. Only by having internal stability can the tissues in the body surive and function properly. The boy has a narrow range of conditions known as set points and when the external conditions affect your internal stability, then the body reacts to maintain the set points.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.

Your body maintains homeostasis in your body by several ways. Some examples are when the external temperature is cold, then your body starts shivering which are muscle contractions that release heat to keep you warm. In contrats, when the tempreature is too high, you sweat causing evaporate cooling that keeps you from overheating.
The integumentary system is really important in homeostasis as well. Your skin provides a physical barrier against dirt and microorganisms entering your body. It also responds to stimuli or changes in the environment, like tempreature changes and water content in order to sweat. The hair in your head protects it from harmful ultraviolet radiation.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.

When the external temperature is cold, your body reacts and tries to stabilize your internal environment so you start to shiver. Shivering is the contraction of skeletal muscles, when they contract they release heat warming your body.

Chapter 27.3 Homework Assignment Daniela Torres

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is essential to my body´s functioning due to the fact that without is my body´s temperature wouldnt be able to be stable. In addition, this internal stability or steady state in my body is essential due to the fact that without it my tissues wouldnt be able to survive. Tissues ONLY survive within a range of specific conditions. In order for them to survive my body temperature has to be a steady 37 degrees Celsius constantly.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
1. One clear example of how my skin keeps homeostasis in my body is that the skin provides a physical barrier against dirt and other microorganism.
2. Another way the skin helps maintain homeostasis in my body is that it helps to insulate my body on cold days.
3. A third way is the fact that the skin helps to cushion internal organs against injury, preveting organs to fatally damage.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
My body helps maintain a constant temperature while outside on a cold day by shivering. Shivering is caused by the rapid contraction of skeletal muscles. The contracting muscles release heat that help maintain the body temperature stable during a cold day.
1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is the internal stability of your body. It has the function of maintaining an appropriate body temperature. Homeostasis helps maintain our body equilibrium if we do not have an appropriate internal stability in our body we can get psychological and psychomatic disorders.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
One way that your skin helps maintains homeostasis in our body is by providing a physical barrier against dirt and microorganisms entering your body. Another way is by helping protect the body on cold days and to moderate internal organs against physical damage. Also by helping maintain homeostasis by reacting to such incentive as small changes in body temperature and water content.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
By trembling because it causes the quick tightening of skeletal muscles. The muscles discharge heat that helps uphold your body temperature on a cold day.

Concept 27.3 Karo Sotomayor

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is important to our body because it provides stability by reacting to the changes in the environment in matters of temperature. It is also important because the tissues in our body can only survive within a narrow set of conditions.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
The skin acts as a barrier against microorganisms and bacteria entering the body. It also cushions internal organs against injuries. The skin responds to stimuli such as body temperature and water content. Te hair on our head protects the scalp from harming effects and ultraviolet radiation. The hair on our eyebrows and eyelashes avoids bacteria to enter our eyes.
3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
Shivering is when the skeletal muscles contract rapidly making the muscles release heat in order to maintain the body tempreature. In a hot day or during exercise sweating keeps the body from overheating by causing evaporative cooling.

Questions. Maria Alicia Jaramillo

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is important for our body to function because it maintains the appropriate body temperature. If we don't maintain homeostasis, or equilibrium, we can obtain psychological and psychomatic disorders.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
When you sweat the skin is helping you cool dow.
After you sweat, the sweat is turned into vapor and it dries from your skin, so heat is being absorbed. When its hot, your body opens the pores to release heat, and when it cold the pore get smaller to keep heat in.
Also the nerves on your skin let you know when you being touched and it causes reactions to know when something is cold or hot.
3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
A way in which our body maintains a constant temperature is by sweating, in a hot day our body releases heat by sweat.

Reading Response 27.3

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.

Homeostasis is the internal stability of our body. It is responsible of controlling and maintaining an appropriate body temperature. It is important, because the tissues that make up our body can just function under very narrow conditions, provided by this equilibrium that homeostasis provides.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.

The skin acts like a protector barrier against microorganisms and filth entering your body. The structure of skin also helps protect and react to cold climates, and cushion internal organs against injury.By responding to stimuli, and changes in temperature, skin also contributes to the succesfull job of homeostasis.Your skin reacts to hot climates, for example by sweating, meaning opening the pores of your skin to release heat. As well, when the climate is cold, you shiver, meaning your muscles contract more rapidly to maintain heat. Because homeostasis has the role of responding to stimuli, it is as well, responsible of our reactions to it.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.

When the outside temperature is cold, our neurons release signal molecules that stimulate the muscles that cause our body to shiver, meaning this muscles start to contract faster so that the body produces heat.
