1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is important to our body because it provides stability by reacting to the changes in the environment in matters of temperature. It is also important because the tissues in our body can only survive within a narrow set of conditions.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
The skin acts as a barrier against microorganisms and bacteria entering the body. It also cushions internal organs against injuries. The skin responds to stimuli such as body temperature and water content. Te hair on our head protects the scalp from harming effects and ultraviolet radiation. The hair on our eyebrows and eyelashes avoids bacteria to enter our eyes.
3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
Shivering is when the skeletal muscles contract rapidly making the muscles release heat in order to maintain the body tempreature. In a hot day or during exercise sweating keeps the body from overheating by causing evaporative cooling.
As well as in Eli´s post, I agree with all of your responses, it is interesting to see that even thought we had the same assigment we included different parts of the reading in each one. I think it´s really good to look at other points of views from each one.
ReplyDeleteI think that you nailed this questions you really understood what the quesion was asking. But I also think that you should have said that body equilibrium if we do not have an appropriate internal stability in our body we can get psychological and psychomatic disorder. But eventhough you did not have this answers it was all right good work Karo y you have any questions you can chek my site.
ReplyDeleteyour answers were great for number 1 and 3 but for number 2 they asked about the skin specifically and you answered as if it was about the integumentary system but either way the examples were still correct.
