Health blog!

Welcome students to our class blog. We will be using this space for class discussions to examine, evaluate, and share knowledge. Discussions provide opportunities for students to think critically on the topics we will be learning about in Health class. Concepts, assignments, and readings will be used as the basis for our discussions to create a positive learning community in which students are willing to share their ideas and to accept constructive criticism from their peers.

Reading Response 27.3

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.

Homeostasis is the internal stability of our body. It is responsible of controlling and maintaining an appropriate body temperature. It is important, because the tissues that make up our body can just function under very narrow conditions, provided by this equilibrium that homeostasis provides.

2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.

The skin acts like a protector barrier against microorganisms and filth entering your body. The structure of skin also helps protect and react to cold climates, and cushion internal organs against injury.By responding to stimuli, and changes in temperature, skin also contributes to the succesfull job of homeostasis.Your skin reacts to hot climates, for example by sweating, meaning opening the pores of your skin to release heat. As well, when the climate is cold, you shiver, meaning your muscles contract more rapidly to maintain heat. Because homeostasis has the role of responding to stimuli, it is as well, responsible of our reactions to it.

3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.

When the outside temperature is cold, our neurons release signal molecules that stimulate the muscles that cause our body to shiver, meaning this muscles start to contract faster so that the body produces heat.

  1. Really good job not only because you nailed the question but also because your answer was really precize you stayed on the topic all of the time you also colud have explained a little bit more how homeostasis maintains a stable body temperature. But eventhough we work seperatly we had really similar answers if you have any questions chek my site for help.

  2. I also agree with what Eli said. Your answers were precise and completely on topic. They are extremely easy to understand and provide the reader clear insight on what the topic is.
You could have specified what exact body temperature we have to maintain in order for our tissues to stay healthy.
All in all great work! Dont doubt to contact me for help :)

  3. Really well done. The questions are answered clearly and you give a good explanation for each of them specially number two which states very precise examples. They provide enough information to be able to understand what homeostasis is but they are not to elaborate as to confuse the reader.
