Health blog!

Welcome students to our class blog. We will be using this space for class discussions to examine, evaluate, and share knowledge. Discussions provide opportunities for students to think critically on the topics we will be learning about in Health class. Concepts, assignments, and readings will be used as the basis for our discussions to create a positive learning community in which students are willing to share their ideas and to accept constructive criticism from their peers.

Questions. Maria Alicia Jaramillo

1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body's functioning.
Homeostasis is important for our body to function because it maintains the appropriate body temperature. If we don't maintain homeostasis, or equilibrium, we can obtain psychological and psychomatic disorders.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
When you sweat the skin is helping you cool dow.
After you sweat, the sweat is turned into vapor and it dries from your skin, so heat is being absorbed. When its hot, your body opens the pores to release heat, and when it cold the pore get smaller to keep heat in.
Also the nerves on your skin let you know when you being touched and it causes reactions to know when something is cold or hot.
3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.
A way in which our body maintains a constant temperature is by sweating, in a hot day our body releases heat by sweat.

  1. I think that you did a pretty good job in all of the questions it is interesting how eventhough we have the same questions we also have different prespresctives and point of views. You could also have included other examples for a clear understanding but for what they were asking you nailed it.

  2. I really think your post explained precisely what the answer was trying to find. I do agree as well with the answers, as well being really accurate. The last question about maintaining body temperature during cold climates, has to do with shivering, because of maintaining heat, as well.

  3. I thought your answers were very specific. I really liked the fact that you explained the consequences the fail of this required equilibrium in our body would create.
I believe that the only thing i would imrpove would be that next time you specify a bit more what body temperature assures homeostasis is being performed effectively.
    Great Job!
